Hey, Cougar Community! It's Founders Day and our students are counting on you! With support from you, our current and future students can continue to receive a world-class education that transcends the classroom. Founded on April 14, 1855 originally as the Newark Normal School, Kean University commemorates that day annually with our day of giving. Join us in honoring Kean's rich history and legacy of success and achievement while supporting the Cougars of today and tomorrow!
Join others to commemorate Founders Day and make a gift that is meaningful to you, to the area at Kean University you care about the most. Your giving, combined with that of others, will have a vital impact on the lives of Kean University students, faculty and staff.

This Founders Day we are offering challenges and matches that you can participate in to maximize your impact:
Student Match – Calling all students! Your donation and designation will be matched dollar for dollar!
Faculty Staff Challenge – Calling all faculty and staff! If 100 faculty/staff make a donation, you’ll unlock an additional $2,500 in support of Kean students.
College Challenge - The College with the most donor participation will receive $2,500 towards their college as well as the sought-after Founders Day trophy, currently held at The College of Liberal Arts!
Faculty Match - We are excited to announce that Dr. Laura Baecher, Associate Provost for Faculty Development, has offered a match for this year’s Founders Day! Dr. Baecher will match dollar for dollar, personally donating up to $5,000 to support the Kean Fund for Faculty Success, directly benefiting faculty professional development.
Volunteer Challenge - Become a Founders Day advocate by clicking the button below and sharing the Founders Day information on your social channels. #KeanFoundersDay is about the power of community. Advocates, who spread the word about Kean Founders Day with their personal networks, are the driving force behind the success of the day! The advocate who brings in the most donors gets to allocate $1,500 to the fund of his or her choice.
Athletics Challenge – If 50 donors donate to the team of their choice, $5,000 will be unlocked to support Kean athletics.
The area with the most young alumni class (2014-2023) gifts will unlock $1,000.
First-time donor match! All gifts from first-time donors will be matched dollar for dollar up to $500.
In honor of Founders Day, consider making a donation in one of the following denominations:
$18.55 - in honor of our founding year
$24.00 - in honor of this year's graduating class
$169.00 - in honor of our anniversary
From scholarships, academic programs, technology as well as clubs and athletics, your gift in any amount will help make a vital impact on each of our students.
